the japanese art of tidying up
Do you wish for your home and your life to reflect who you are now
— and who you are becoming? Is it time to turn the page?
— and who you are becoming? Is it time to turn the page?
You may be here because you've heard about Japanese decluttering guru Marie Kondo. Maybe you've bought her book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up (10 million copies sold) or watched her Netflix show, Tidying Up With Marie Kondo.
There's a reason why her message has resonated with so many people. Her criteria of "does it spark joy?" goes deeper than just figuring out how to manage and organize "stuff." When you commit to your own "transformational tidying" you're saying "yes" to a journey of personal exploration. It's about intentionally creating the life you want. Yet it all starts with something as basic as sorting your socks! Sachiko is a Platinum-level certified KonMari consultant who has coached many lovely people who are now happily enjoying their transformed spaces. You won't be alone if you fear you might have the worst clutter ever... everyone feels that way. |
the konmari experience is rooted in japanese values
of mindfulness and gratitude
You will cultivate listening to your heart (not your head).
With patience, light-heartedness and at a pace that suits you, Sachiko will help you mindfully consider your clothes, books, papers, komono (literally everything else) + sentimental items in a specific order over a set period. The goal is not to become a minimalist (unless you want to). It's to get to your personal "click point" — what feels right for you. After sorting is finished, when we know exactly what is left that needs a home, Sachiko will show you how to organize your space so you can maintain a lifestyle where tidying up is easy.
How long does it take? For a family-sized home, the most common way to KonMari™ is over a 6 - 8 month period, with 1 full day of tidying each week (6 hours) + homework that you do between sessions. But it all depends on you, the size of your home, the number of things you have + your time and energy. In your initial free one-hour consultation, we'll walk through your space together, talk about your vision and see the scope of your project. Video coaching is possible. |
if you're ready to do this, you'll feel a clear "yes"
Believe what your heart tells you when you ask : Does this spark joy?
- Marie Kondo
Very Important Note:
Although tidying can lead to magical results, it doesn't happen by waving a magic wand. Choosing to transform your space and your life requires your determination, time, energy and unwavering commitment to yourself. You'll get there if you're truly ready to make it happen!

Sachiko came into my home with warmth, compassion and the complicity of a fairy godmother. She understood what I was going through. She gave me time to express what I was feeling above and beyond the objects that were weighing me down, letting me explain my desire to find my way, to become the person I wanted to become. At the heart of Sachiko's process, what impacted me the most was the absence of judgement and the freedom I experienced. Today I am a person who no longer accumulates things and I am giving myself permission to become the person I have always wanted to be."
-- Elizabeth, Outremont, traductrice |
